Tyler State Park is 985.5 acres in Smith County, north of Tyler. The park includes a 64-acre lake. Activities include picnicking, camping, boating, boat rentals, fishing, birding, hiking, mountain biking, lake swimming, and nature study.  User Reviews

  Tyler Municipal Rose Garden
Since its opening in 1952, the Municipal Rose Garden has brought to Tyler critical acclaim nationwide as it caters to both the home gardener and the horticulturist. It is more than a popular attraction, as it is both a display garden and trial garden. Many of the vivid floral displays are also test areas for new rose varieties.  User Reviews

  Texas State Railroad & Park (Palestine)
The goal of the Texas State Railroad State Park is to offer its visitors a well-rounded educational experience. Along with the historic train excursions, the TSRR provides a wide variety of educational and entertainment programs.  Many special event trains runs each year such as "Murder Mystery" and "North Pole Express".  Trains are running from both Palestine and Rusk stations.  Railroad store at each depot offering gifts and keepsakes as well as food service including sandwiches and ice cream.  Camping and picnicing facilities are also available at each station.  Kids ride free all summer from June-September.  903-683-2561 or 800-442-8951.

  Mrs. Lee's Daffodil Gardens (Gladewater)  
In 1956 Mrs. Helen Lee ordered a boxcar filled with daffodil bulbs to add a splash of yellow to the deep green woods of east Texas. Today, thousands of daffodils still bloom every February and March, carrying on Mrs. Lee’s legacy. Although most spectacular in early spring, the gardens are a great place to a visit any time of year. A driving loop provides access to several hundred acres.

  Camp Tyler  
Located on 287 acres of variable habitat along the Lake Tyler shoreline, Camp Tyler provides excellent birding and wildlife viewing opportunities. The Camp serves primarily as an educational facility serving the Tyler Independent School District and other youth groups in the east Texas area. The site offers a diversity of habitats, including pine forest, deciduous riparian forest, shoreline and open field/pasture. Over 220 species of birds have been recorded at the site. Visitors are required to check in at the office.   Call before arrival at 903-262-1225.


Blue Moon Gardens (Chandler)
Located on six acres in Chandler, Blue Moon Gardens has numerous display gardens of herbs, perennials, and shrubs.  Festivals and workshops are held throughout the year.  Gift shop on site.  For more information please call 903-852-3897.
